The Password That Shocked Everyone at Tech Summit Trivia

Last week at the CFI Tech Summit in St. Louis, Matt Reiners and I hosted Trivia and it was equal parts fun and competitive.

One of our most memorable questions was “What’s the most common (and worst) password used today?”

Almost everyone guessed “password”, but the real answer is actually 123456.

It was a lighthearted way to highlight a serious point. Even in 2025, basic password knowledge is a problem. In senior living especially, where resident safety and data protection go hand in hand, this stuff matters.

It’s Bigger Than Just Passwords

That trivia question stuck with me because it reflects something bigger. Many organizations are still dealing with foundational tech gaps. In senior living especially, we see how technology impacts daily operations, resident experience, and staff productivity. A lot of tech problems come from the basics being overlooked.

That’s why we believe in starting with a Tech Assessment & Strategic Roadmap. It helps communities take a step back and look at the whole picture: infrastructure, systems, security, operations, even culture. Then we build a 3-year roadmap to help guide priorities and investments over time.

Takeaways from the Summit

Out of all the trivia rounds, Matt Reiner’s favorite was a “Name That Tune” question, which was “Air Force Ones” by Nelly. It was a perfect St. Louis moment.

In all seriousness, trivia taught us that people want to talk about tech, but they don’t know where to start. A lot of communities are facing the same questions:

  • Are we secure?

  • Are our systems working together?

  • Are we set up for what’s coming next?

Getting those answers doesn’t require a massive overhaul. It starts with getting clear on where you are now, and where you want to go. And MAYBE retiring “123456” once and for all.
