How to Find and Print Recipes Online

Finding recipes online can be frustrating. Between all the ads, popups, and buttons that don’t do what you expect, it’s easy to give up before you even make it to the ingredient list. In this post, we’ll show you how to find recipes online, avoid the nonsense, and get a clean version you can actually use in your kitchen. We also have a video tutorial available on how to find recipes online.

Why Look for Recipes Online in the First Place?

Cookbooks are great, but the internet gives you way more variety. Want to use up some leftover chicken? Looking for low-sodium meals? Craving something festive for a holiday? You can find it all online, often for free.

You can also save recipes on your computer or print them out to use in the kitchen.

Start Simple: Use Google

Just open your web browser (like Chrome or Edge), go to Google, and type in what you’re looking for.
Try something like: “easy beef stew recipe” or “chocolate chip cookies no nuts”

Here’s the trick. The first few results might be ads. Skip past those and look for the real recipe links further down. Sites like AllRecipes.com and Epicurious are great places to start.

Watch Out for Tricky Stuff

Some recipe sites have popups or buttons that say things like “Download Recipe” or “Start Now.” These are usually ads, not the actual recipe. A few things to avoid:

  • Download or install buttons

  • Popups that open new tabs or ask for info

  • Buttons that don’t actually take you to the recipe

If something feels off, it probably is. Just back out and try a different site.

The Best Way to View a Recipe

Here’s the part that trips up a lot of people. If you just hit “Print” on your computer, you’ll likely get 10 pages of ads, images, and unrelated junk.

Instead, look for a “Print Recipe” button on the page itself. It’s usually near the top or right above the ingredients list. That button will clean up the page so only the important stuff shows up.

Then preview it before printing. You should see just one or two pages of recipe content.

A Quick Tour of AllRecipes.com

This is one of our favorite sites. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Go to allrecipes.com

  2. Use the search bar to type in what you’re looking for (like “peanut butter bars”)

  3. Scroll past any ads and pick a recipe that has lots of reviews

  4. Click the recipe and find the “Print” button

  5. You’ll get a clean version, ready to print

Bonus tip: read the comments. People often share tweaks and tips that can make the recipe even better.
